→ Thanks to all those people who came to various Kings Heath Neighbourhood Forum meeting(s). Proposals for a forum in the area will be brought to a public meeting and consultation in the early afternoon of Saturday 19 Feb (more details to follow). In the proposed constitution one of the proposed objectives is to “Promote a more sustainable environment and resilient community”.

→ Phil Beardsmore has been working for us on a public consultation and feasibility study for the eco-centre proposal. He is preparing his report which we will make available when it is ready. You can contact Phil on firstname.lastname@example.org
→ Our AGM took place on Monday 25th October. 2010 We formally agreed a constitution, discussed projects we’re involved in, agreed the treasurer’s report/accounts and elected officers and core group members. We also got to know each other through some fun exercises and heardmusic from Oz, Ian and Liz. A great store of ideas and suggestions for the future came out of group exercises. A full account will follow later.
→ We are helping to support a work party in Highbury Park, reclaiming land which in former years was the site of a model farm. See us in this photo, posted on the 350 site on 10th October when we were one of over 7,000 work parties worldwide taking part in a day of action, combatting climate change. Great work started on clearing an area for an orchard/urban farm plus other possibilities. we are also helping in a coppicing work party at Highbury Park. → We have been successful in our bid to be supported by the Energy Savings Trust as part of their Green Communities initiative. Discussion are ongoing about what form this might take. It could be focussed on insulation of houses, possibly micro-generation of energy or even setting up some form of community energy company. More news will follow. → We have been succesful in getting grant funding from Be Birmingham for public consultation about our eco-centre proposal starting soon, once we have appointed a consultant to lead the consultation.
→ We ran a stall at the Friends of the Earth event about local food on Saturday 2 October. at All Saints. Liz gave a talk about Grofun and a number of people signed up for information about the next Grofun (spring 2011). 19 new people asked to be on our mailing list.
→ We helped with a survey of Kings Heath Farmers Market on 2nd October.
→ We ran a stall at the Sustainability event in Millenium Point in September. Lots of people visited, including a certain HRH. People were invited to give suggestions about our Eco centre which several did, including a certain HRH. Key attractions were 9 Carrots scheme, Film Cafe, Grofun, the Planters. A number of new people asked to be members of our maiing list.
