How can we have sustainable money? Thursday (21st) 8:30pm, Ort Cafe

This film screening follows on neatly from our last film evening, which looked at the links between Peak Oil and the financial crisis. This time, it’s all about money…

Ever wondered where money comes from? Who creates it? Who decides how it is used? Why most people are slaves to it and a few aren’t? How can a country run out of money while banks dont?

If you have ever pondered over these basic but life-affecting questions and have found conventional textbooks, news, blogs, economists utterly confusing and useless at explaining them to you, then join us at the charming ORT café for a screening of ‘97% owned’, a documentary that reveals how our monetary system is at the root of our current social and economic crisis.

Fact-based and clearly explained, in just 60 minutes it shows how the power to create money is the piece of the puzzle that economists were missing when they failed to predict the crisis.

Free entry. 1hr film followed by informal group discussion. At Ort cafe, 500-506 Moseley Road, Balsall Heath, B12 9AH.

Thursday 21st June, 8:30-10pm

More info and RSVP (optional) on Facebook

If you can’t make the screening, you can also watch the documentary for free online.
