“The Age of Stupid” at the mac on Sunday, 2pm + me

As part of Climate Week, the mac arts centre is screening the award-winning documentary "The Age of Stupid" on Sunday 11th at 2pm.

"A drama-documentary-animation hybrid, starring Pete Postlethwaite as a man living in the devastated world of 2055. An archivist, he watches archive footage from our present day to try and understand why humankind failed to address climate change. This footage features real people and their stories, which illustrate aspects of the impending catastrophe."

I have to warn you though, it’s not exactly a barrel of laughs. It’s a graphic portrayal of what happens if we carry on with "business as normal". Even though I was fairly clued-up on climate science, I still came out of the cinema feeling decidedly shell-shocked!

But we’re all lucky enough to know that’s there another option. Even better, we know we’re not alone; there are plenty of other positive people out there who are already getting on with building a future worth living for. Not everyone is so linked in, though – so I’ll be running a stall outside the cinema as people come in and out, publicising all the local environmental groups. And perhaps giving hugs where necessary!

I highly recommend this film if you’ve not seen it already. And even if you have, feel free to pop by and say hi.. perhaps even help me talk to some people as they come out of the cinema at 3:30pm?

Cheers,

Jonathan
